National Merit Commended Students

Congratulations to Wyllys Ames and Brendan McCarthy!

We are proud to announce that Wyllys and Brendan have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program! A Letter of Commendation from Scituate High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will be presented by our principal to these talented seniors.

This year, approximately 34,000 students nationwide are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although Wyllys and Brendan will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, they placed among the top 50,000 students who entered by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

A spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation stated, “Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. These students are a valuable national resource, and recognizing their accomplishments is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”

We hope this recognition broadens their educational opportunities and inspires them as they continue their pursuit of academic success. Way to go, Wyllys and Brendan!
