Special Education

The Scituate Public Schools provides services for students in accordance with the Federal Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and state (603 CMR 28.00) regulations. Scituate Public Schools provides a continuum of special education services for students based on individual needs and Team recommendations.

Child Find

The Scituate Public School District is mandated to evaluate students suspected of having a disability who reside in Scituate, including students who attend private schools. As a parent/guardian, if you are concerned that your student may have a disability and requires specialized instruction and/or related services to make effective progress, you may request an evaluation by sending a letter to the special education office or emailing the Director of Special Education at

Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities who need accommodations but not specialized instruction may be eligible for a 504 plan. Please know that all students may receive supports and interventions based on their individual needs. Please contact the District Guidance Coordinator at 781-545-8759 ext. 11370.
