We are excited to announce that Mr. Ryan Lynch has been named Scituate Public Schools’ next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Staff Development, effective August 1, 2024.  Mr. Lynch is no stranger to Scituate Public Schools as he’s served as Principal of Gates Middle School, as well as the ELA Department Chair, K-12 and 7-12 for a total of 11 years before leaving to become the Assistant Superintendent of Silver Lake Regional School District in 2020.  He has also held teaching positions with school districts in East Greenwich, RI and Providence, RI.

During his time as Assistant Superintendent for Silver Lake Regional School District, Mr. Lynch implemented curriculum mapping software to manage and align the creation of a new, engaging PK-12 curriculum, following the Understanding by Design (UbD) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approaches. He worked with the Superintendent to create and manage the implementation of the district strategic plan, founded the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group, led the Curriculum Team, the PK-12 teaching and learning team and planned/led professional development for all district staff among many other accomplishments.

When asked why he wanted to come back to Scituate, Mr. Lynch stated he is excited to work in Scituate because of the commitment of students, staff and our community to education and excellence. In his own words…”Whether it’s in the classroom, on the stage, or on the athletic field, SPS students and staff work hard and perform with pride.” Adding, “It’s energizing to be part of a community where people are committed to learning, growth, and giving their best effort.”

Mr. Lynch is passionate about working with students and adults because he believes that schools can change a student’s life and that every student deserves to attend a school where they will be cared for by the staff and their classmates. He believes students should be challenged to become the best version of themselves.  He remains committed to this vocation and to building systems that help young people develop the skills and self-confidence, realizing their potential and becoming active citizens in a shifting world.

Educationally, Mr. Lynch holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Arts in Teaching with an ELA Focus from Brown University, and completed the Licensure Leadership Program in Education from Bridgewater State University.

In his free time, he enjoys running, spending time with his wife, son, daughter & his two dogs!

Please join us in welcoming back Mr. Lynch to Scituate Public Schools, as our new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Staff Development!
