Summer Acceleration Academy 2023

During the week of August, 21st,  119 students from grades 1-6 left the beach behind and headed to the Gates Middle School to participate in a four day Summer Acceleration Academy. During the program, students enjoyed hands-on experiences in math, literacy, and technology. Our incoming sixth grade participants also got to spend time getting used to their new school. From applying skills to prove whether or not you can make a square bubble to creating gum ball machines using fractions, students spent a fun-filled week brushing up on old skills and learning new skills. 

This program was funded through the Department of Education Summer Acceleration grant. Expert teachers ran small groups to target individual student needs and inspire engagement in learning.
