7th grade celebrates “sunset” of seniors’ SPS experience

7th grade students in Mrs. Naylor and Mrs. Townsell's classes have been reading the beloved novel The Outsiders over the past few weeks, and through their study have explored questions like: Why is it important for everyone to feel like they belong?  How does understanding what others are going through help ourselves and the world? How can we deal with loss and move forward?  As one of their culminating tasks, 7th graders practiced interview skills and drafted questions for junior and senior students from Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Blake's 11th and 12th grade classes to answer.  These questions asked high school students to reflect on the end of their experiences as students in Scituate Public Schools.  In mixed groups, high school students shared stories and advice with their middle school counterparts.  Middle school students appreciated high school students' openness and honesty.  The 7th graders are creating sunset visuals to incorporate and share information from their interviews, that they will then share with the high school students who contributed to them.
