Faculty Mentoring Powers Student Internships
The SHS Internship program offers SHS juniors and seniors a hybrid learning experience combining classroom work and field internships to explore potential careers and develop essential job-seeking and workplace skills. Every year, one of the most popular requests by students is for an internship placement with a faculty member in our district. This is a testament to the incredible care and commitment of our staff!
Interns genuinely appreciate their experiences. For example, Kaelyn DeMello, SHS Intern at Jenkins Elementary School with Ms. Norton(Fall 2024) and Ms. Corcoran(Spring 2025) shared, “I have truly enjoyed getting to know and understand each of these kids. I have learned so much working alongside them. I can't wait to continue to watch them learn and grow. Ms. Norton and Ms. Corcoran have been amazing sponsors!” Comments from faculty are equally inspiring. Recently, Ms. McCarthy highlighted that, “Darbi(Carmody) has jumped right into teaching and helping students. She asks great questions, shares sophisticated observations, and develops solutions independently. The students love her, and she has been able to adapt to various needs in the classroom. Her flexibility is impressive.”
