Gates World Language Department Awarded Grant Funding

Gates World Language Department Chosen for Grant to Improve Proficiency Outcomes

The Gates World Language Department was recently chosen by the Department of Education as a recipient of the Proficiency Outcomes for Languages Other than English Grant. The purpose of this competitive grant is to support World Language Programs in the implementation of the new state standards as well as the development of a more proficiency based program. Awarded districts have the opportunity to partner with the State World Languages Advisory Team to share and analyze data to improve programs. All 8th grade students enrolled in Spanish, French and Mandarin will have the opportunity to take Avant’s STAMP Test this spring. The STAMP Test is a proficiency based language assessment used to qualify for the State Seal of Biliteracy. Gates student data will be used to improve state level guidance pertaining to world language programming.
