Red Carpet Dance

Gates Dance

The Gates Winter Dance will take place on Friday, January 19th from 7:00PM – 9:00PM. We are excited for students to have the chance to gather with their friends outside of the school day, and the Gates PTO has worked extremely hard to plan this wonderful event. We recognize that for many of our students this will be their first dance; in order for students to have the best possible experience, we want to clarify some details of the evening.

Overview

The cost of entrance to the dance is $5, collected at the door. The Dining Commons will be decorated and will be a great space for students to gather and dance. The movement studio will be set up as a quieter space for students to play games, and the gymnasium will be open for students who wish to play basketball.

Drop-Off

Students should be dropped off at the front entrance utilizing the drop-off loop beginning at 7:00PM. Students must arrive by 7:30PM. Upon arrival, students will purchase their ticket and sign in. If your student has an extenuating circumstance and needs to arrive after 7:30PM, please arrange this ahead of time via email with Mr. Beattie.

Pick-Up

The dance ends at 9:00PM. Students may not leave earlier, unless arranged ahead of time via email with Mr. Beattie. Parents and caregivers should line up in their cars utilizing the traditional school pick-up traffic pattern: waiting first in the drop-off/pick-up loop, then lining the perimeter of the parking lot. Please do not park and exit your vehicle as this will impede the flow of traffic. A police detail will be on site for the entire evening to help with traffic and crowd control.

Attire

While many students opt to wear dressy “red carpet” clothes to the dance, students are encouraged to wear clothing that makes them comfortable and adheres to the dress code in the Gates Student Handbook.

Behavior Expectations

We want students to have a fun and safe experience, and students are reminded that all school rules apply at the dance. We appreciate conversations that parents and caregivers can have ahead of time with students to reinforce this message. If students display unsafe or inappropriate behaviors, their parents/caregivers will be notified and students will be asked to leave the dance.

Please see the attached flyer below and contact Mr. Beattie with any questions. We are looking forward to a fun and enjoyable evening!
