Hatherly Happenings
We had a fabulous first week back to school at Hatherly School! It was so exciting to see how much our Hatherly Hornets have grown over the summer.
New Cushing/Hatherly School Building Project
It is so exciting that Scituate will be replacing Cushing and Hatherly schools with a beautiful new building tentatively set to open in the fall of 2027. I will do my best to keep you updated on this project as it relates to our everyday lives here at Hatherly School.
- On Tuesday, September 11th, the engineers will be conducting a traffic study. They will be installing sensors that count the number of cars entering Hatherly School during pick up and drop off. No personal information such as license plates will be captured by this study. One of the priorities of this project will be to ensure that traffic patterns do not disrupt the surrounding neighborhood.
- Sound measurement equipment will be placed around the edge of the Hatherly site to help direct any noise mitigation decisions. These will look like small cyan-colored dots. We ask that should you see them, please do not remove them.
- For additional information, please reference the SPS website.
Rock, Paper, Scissors in Physical Education Class
In PE this week, Mr. Puzzangara set up a Rock, Paper, Scissors course for students. In this video, the 5th graders in Ms. Pescatore’s class jump from circle to circle and have a rock, paper, scissors “battle”. What a great way to work on fitness, cooperation, and good sportsmanship!
Please take a moment to review the following procedures:
Arrival and Dismissal Procedure
- Doors open at 8:40 and classes start at 8:55am. All students will enter the front door.
- Dismissal is at 3:25.
- Staff will be outside to assist the students during drop off and pick up.
- Please help us to keep drop off and pick up times timely and efficient. Parents and caregivers should remain in the car at all times. Respectfully, we ask that, if you need to get out of the car to assist your child, please park in a spot and walk your child to the door.
- Please make sure that your child knows how they will be going home: walker, bus, car rider. Please send an email to the office or a note with your child for any changes in dismissal.
Breakfast/Lunch:
- Breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge.
- Students can eat a quick breakfast in the cafeteria upon arrival.
- On Fridays, ice cream will be available for purchase for $1.00.
Smart Watches and Cell Phones:
- If students choose to bring a cell phone or a Smart Watch to school, they will be required to keep these devices in their backpacks for the duration of the school day, including on the bus.
