Windows and Mirrors Humanities Showcase

On May 16th Gates and SHS will be holding a Windows and Mirrors Humanities Showcase. The showcase will be an immersive experience where attendees can see and participate interactively with student work - viewing a film, judging a project, tasting some food, etc. The event is open to all, especially K-12 families who have current or prospective students. To learn more about this event please visit this link.

Get ready for the next school year by ordering your school kit now!

Our PTO is offering a school supply kit program again for next year, so there’s no need to head to the store. Supply orders include the exact colors, quantities, and brands your teachers have approved for class. Get your Back to School shopping taken care of with one easy kit! Kits will be available for pickup later this summer, typically in late August or you can also opt to not pick them up, in which case we’ll deliver them directly to your child’s classroom for the first day of school!

Place your order by Friday, May 17th

Grade 4 Bug Vs. Teacher

Ms. Cafferty’s fourth grade class pranked Mrs. Ferguson with fake bugs. After we pulled the prank, small groups chose different roles and characters in the situation and wrote a play. Each group acted it out afterwards. We had so much fun being creative!

Grade 4 Sound Experiment

The fourth grade is learning about how sound energy travels in waves. They decided to experiment to see if they could see these waves move through water when they played their instruments! Photos of Mrs. Flynn’s fourth graders are attached!

Character Strong

Last Friday, we had our Hero Assembly to celebrate April’s theme of Courage. Mrs. Henry’s first grade class created a video to share what it means to have courage. Mrs. Cafferty’s class also shared how they have been learning cursive this year. They challenged the students to read a sign written in cursive. It was wonderful to see so many students participating.

Next month, our theme is creativity. We will be looking at ways that being creative can help increase our sense of belonging and reduce anxiety.

Grade 3 Physicals

This is a friendly reminder that every child in third grade is required to have an updated physical examination on file in their school health record.  If you have not yet provided an updated physical examination, please obtain a physical examination report from your child's health care provider and return it to the school. Documentation can also be faxed to the school at 781-545-8786. If you are unsure of whether this has already been provided, please reach out to Nurse Jessica.
