Spring for the Arts-Today!

Spring for the Arts

The Scituate Fine Arts Department Cordially invites you to our annual “Spring for the Arts” festival!

Please come and join us to celebrate an afternoon of art, drama and music!  Amazing student art work will be displayed in the Center for the Performing Arts lobby (elementary) and we will feature our high school and middle school student artwork in the SHS Art Wing.  Our middle and high school drama students will be showcased in the Gates Black Box Theatre!

In addition to the wonderful artwork, and drama performances, our musicians (band 5-12; choir 4-12) will be featured in performance throughout the festival.  Come enjoy the wonderful sounds of bands, choruses and jazz bands!  New this year:  Food trucks will be available in the parking lot by the SHS Large Gym/entrance to the Center for the Performing Art…Enjoy a snack or dinner!  Hope to see you there!

  • Where: Scituate High School/ Gates Middle School
  • When: Thursday, May 9th 3:15pm-7:45pm

Artwork will be exhibited at the following locations for an extended period of two weeks, allowing everyone to enjoy it.

  • Elementary: Center for the Performing Arts Lobby- Grades 3, 4 & 5
  • Gates MS, SHS: SHS Art Wing.

Center for Performing Arts Schedule:

  • 3:15- Gates Gr. 6 Jazz Band
  • 3:30– Gates Gr. 7/8 Jazz Band
  • 3:45– SHS Jazz Band
  • 4:00- SHS Jazz Choir & Treble Choir
  • 4:15– Cushing Chorus
  • 4:30– Hatherly Chorus
  • 4:45– Wampatuck Chorus
  • 5:00- Jenkins Chorus
  • 6:45– Combined Chorus Concert– Grades 6-12

SHS Large Gym Performance Schedule: 

  • 5:30 - Grades 5-12 Combined Band Concert

Gates Black Box Theatre Performance Schedule:

  • 3:45 Gates Improv. Troupe
  • 4:00 Gates Monologues 
  • 4:15 Gates Musical Highlights  1-2 Songs/Dances 
  • 4:30 SHS Drama– 10 Minute Play
  • 4:45 SHS Drama- 10 Minute Play

Arrival Time: Students should arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled performance time:

  • Grade 5 Band: SHS  Large Gym 
  • SHS Band and Chorus:   SHS Music Room 177
  • Gates Band and Chorus:  Gates Band and Chorus Room
  • Elementary Chorus– Center for the Performing Arts- Sit with your family until called up to the stage to perform.
  • Jazz Ensembles– Center for the Performing Arts
  • Drama– Gates Black Box Theatre
