Students Study Energy

Seventh grade students investigate energy and work as part of the physical science unit.

• Students run various test rolling table tennis and golf balls down a ramp into a Styrofoam block.
• The distance the Styrofoam block moves indicates the amount of kinetic energy the rolling object had at impact.
• Data is collected comparing how the difference in mass relates to differences in kinetic energy.
• More data is collected comparing starting the ramp at different heights to compare different amounts of potential energy.
