Students will use classroom Chromebooks during the school day. Each homeroom has its own set of devices stored in charging stations. Chromebooks will stay at school unless a teacher sends them home for specific assignments.Grades 6–12:
Students are part of Scituate’s take-home 1:1 Chromebook program. Each student receives a school-managed Chromebook, which should be brought to school fully charged every day and taken home each afternoon.
To provide a consistent, secure, and well-supported learning experience, students are asked to use only their school-issued Chromebook during the school day. Personal laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets are not permitted. -
Upon receiving a 1:1 Chromebook, students and families will be provided with a copy of the 1:1 Device Care & Responsibility guidelines, outlining how to care for and manage the school-issued device. By accepting the Chromebook, students and families agree to adhere to the district's usage and care guidelines, acknowledging responsibility for the device.

The Student Responsible Use of Technology guidelines and Inappropriate Use policy clarify expectations for the use of school-issued technology and student accounts. These updated policies are included in the student handbook. -
Students are expected to take proper care of their Chromebook at all times. However, we understand that accidents can occur. Any device that is broken or malfunctioning must be reported to the school's technology staff as soon as possible.
To report a lost, damaged, or malfunctioning device to the technology department:
- High School: Please drop the device off at the library with the librarian.
- Middle School: Please drop the device off at the main office with the secretary.
- Elementary School: Please bring the device to the main classroom teacher.
Each of these staff members will assist the student in submitting a tech ticket to have the device repaired. In some cases, a school loaner may be issued.

If your student is leaving SPS you will need to return their 1:1 Chromebook or other device, and any associated chargers and peripheral devices to the school to which your student is enrolled, and email a notification of the return to Admin. If you leave the district without returning all school property, the district will take the necessary steps to correct the oversight, including invoicing for missing materials and devices, and withholding student records until all items are returned or paid for.

Students will be charged a replacement fee of $300 for a lost or stolen Chromebook.

All Chromebooks are monitored by a software system that ensures students use their Scituate Public Schools Chromebook and account for educational purposes. However, on occasion, students may encounter questionable websites. Should this happen, please contact 781-545-8750x11359 and we will be happy to help you.

We recognize that some parents/guardians may have objections to their child having a Chromebook. If you are concerned regarding this, please call your child’s school to schedule an appointment with the principal to discuss your concerns.

Students issued a 1:1 Chromebook will take their device home daily or as needed. For grades K-4, chromebooks will normally remain in classrooms, but may occasionally go home with students at the teacher’s discretion.

Yes. Your child should bring their Chromebook to school every day. Students who do not have their Chromebook in school will be unable to access the curriculum.

Each student issued a 1:1 device will keep their device and is expected to keep it safe and have it ready and available for the first day of school in August.

Families are expected to return the 1:1 device and charger along with any other school property assigned to a student, or pay $300 for a replacement.
